FIFA U20 World Cup 2023 Preview

Brazil were notable absentees at the last two editions of this tournament and will undoubtedly be eager to make up for lost time.

The five-time winners won this year’s South American U20 Championship without losing a match and will fancy their chances of following up here.

Andrey Santos and Vitor Roque are among a plethora of talented players in the Brazil squad and they could be extremely tough to beat.

Senegal have been touted as potential winners after powering their way to the Africa U20 Cup of Nations title earlier this year.

Lamine Camara was a standout performer in a team packed with future stars and Senegal will be a force to be reckoned with at the U20 World Cup.

Italy have been building some momentum in recent months, but they have never finished better than third in this tournament (2017) and may come up short again.

Uruguay have twice finished second (1997 & 2013) and could go close if they repeat the form they showed in claiming second place at the South American U20 Championship.

Argentina, France, England and United States are among the other teams fancied to embark on a good run and are well worth monitoring as the tournament progresses.
