Kane sets new milestone as England match a 59-year record in Croatia

England thrashed Croatia 7-0 in the UEFA Nations League at Stadion HNK Rijeka on Saturday.

The Three Lions have now won nine competitive away games outside major tournaments for the first time since 1967.

Harry Kane opened the scoring in the eighth minute, receiving a pass from Jude Bellingham and firing it into the roof of the net.

Dominik Livakovic denied Anthony Gordon from doubling the lead, but England kept pouring forward.

Gordon was involved in the second goal, sliding the ball across for Bellingham to tap into the net.

The Real Madrid midfielder nearly returned the favour, but Gordon hit his effort straight at Livakovic.

Gordon eventually made amends for his earlier miss, scoring with a diving header from Jarell Quansah’s cross.

Mateo Kovacic then missed a chance to pull one back for Croatia. He dispossessed Elliot Anderson, but sliced his effort wide after rounding Jordan Pickford.

Bukayo Saka added a fourth before half-time, scoring from close range after receiving a pass from Bellingham.

England extended their advantage in the 50th minute as Anderson set up Kane to make it 5-0.

The Bayern Munich striker is the first England player to score at least 10 goals in three different calendar years.

Bellingham squandered a good chance to join Kane on a brace before the hour mark, failing to hit the target from a promising position.

Saka made it six for England in the 68th minute. Morgan Rogers completed the scoring to round off an emphatic performance.

England now face Czechia at Wembley Stadium on Tuesday.
