England suffer double injury scare ahead of Czechia clash

Nico O’Reilly and Ezri Konsa are doubts for England’s Nations League clash against Czechia at the Fortuna Arena on Tuesday.

O’Reilly and Konsa missed training on Monday morning after playing the whole game in the 3-2 defeat to Spain at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

Lewis Hall could replace O’Reilly if he does not recover in time for tomorrow’s clash.

The Newcastle United left-back has not played for England since March’s friendlies against Uruguay and Japan.

Jarrad Branthwaite, Jarell Quansah and Trevor Chalobah are options available if Konsa is ruled out.

Manager Thomas Tuchel is expected to name a strong starting line-up against Czechia, with England looking to boost their hopes of qualifying for the quarter-finals.

Besides deciding how to replace Konsa and O’Reilly if they are unavailable, Tuchel also has to decide whether to start Jude Bellingham.

There have also been widespread calls for Tuchel to play Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back instead of Quansah. The Bayer Leverkusen defender played poorly against Spain.

Tuesday’s meeting with Czechia is the first of two away fixtures for England during this extended international break.

The Three Lions travel to Croatia on Saturday before hosting Czechia at Wembley next week.
