West Ham player accused of spitting at Millwall goalkeeper during heated derby clash

West Ham United player Taty Castellanos has been accused of spitting at Millwall goalkeeper Filip Marschall during Saturday’s derby at The Den.

The incident happened in the 65th minute, when Marschall held the ball longer than the allotted six seconds while the hosts led 2-0.

Castellanos came flying across in a bid to close the 23-year-old goalkeeper down. Players from both teams were involved in a melee.

Marschall then appeared to point towards his jersey, gesturing that Castellanos had spat at him.

Sky Sports reported that the fourth official confirmed that Millwall staff had lodged an allegation of spitting.

The Lions dominated the first half and scored goals through Caleb Taylor and Camiel Neghli.

West Ham produced a stunning comeback after the break to earn a point.

Substitute Mohamadou Kante pulled one back with a low strike from 25 yards in the 74th minute. Konstantinos Mavropanos headed home the equaliser six minutes later.

Kante received a red card for pulling down Millwall’s Kyrell Lisbie, but the Hammers held on to secure a draw.

West Ham have made a positive start to the Championship season, as they aim for an immediate return to the Premier League.

They have picked up 15 points from eight matches and are currently at the top of the league table. They may drop down when the 3.00 pm kick-offs are completed.
