Christian Pulisic has been left out of Mauricio Pochettino’s first United States squad for the new World Cup cycle, according to Fox Sports.
The AC Milan forward was expected to feature in the upcoming friendlies, but he will miss games against Chile, Peru, Mexico and Canada.
The 27-year-old has been a key figure for the USsince making his international debut a decade ago.
He has scored 33 goals in 90 appearaces, putting him fifth on the country’s all-time scoring list.
However, his relationship with Pochettino has reportedly deteriorated since he opted out of the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Pochettino criticised that decision again last week, despite Pulisic previously explaining that he wanted to be fully prepared for this summer’s World Cup.
The Milan star was then ruled out of the World Cup after suffering a leg injury in their opening 4-1 win over Paraguay.
He returned to the squad for the tournament but failed to score in four appearances before Belgium eliminated the US.
Pulisic has since made his comeback for Milan under Ruben Amorim. He was an unused substitute in their first three Serie A matches before coming off the bench against Lazio last weekend.
The winger helped inspire Milan’s comeback from 2-0 down, registering an assist during his 31-minute appearance as Amorim’s side secured a 2-2 draw.
His omission is a surprise, particularly with fellow American Yunus Musah included despite not playing for the national team since March 2025.
Pochettino has also handed a first senior call-up to Cavan Sullivan, who is enjoying an impressive campaign with Philadelphia Union.
Sullivan has bagged six goals and 11 assists in 23 appearances this season and could become the youngest player to represent the US since Freddy Adu.
The teenager will have the opportunity to make his debut against Peru in Orlando on September 26, before the US face Chile, Mexico and Canada.
