Barcelona are generating enormous amounts of money, yet their latest accounts show that huge revenue does not guarantee financial stability.
According to The Athletic, their 2025/26 accounts show Barcelona surpassed the €1 billion revenue mark for only the second time, after La Liga rivals Real Madrid.
Despite that achievement, the club still recorded a €17.8 million post-tax loss, while the huge Spotify Camp Nou redevelopment continues to weigh heavily on their finances.
Barcelona defended their La Liga title last season, beating Madrid 2-0 in May to seal the crown. They also won another Spanish Super Cup and reached the Champions League quarter-finals.
President Joan Laporta was re-elected in March after defeating Victor Font.
Since returning to the presidency in 2021, Laporta has relied on several financial measures to keep Barcelona competitive while dealing with the consequences of years of heavy spending.
Barcelona recorded substantial commercial profit between 2019 and 2025. Revenue rose by around €200m, reaching €564.1m last season.
Major agreements with Nike and Spotify have contributed to that success, while the club’s global popularity continues to drive strong merchandise sales.
Barcelona’s licensing and merchandising arm generated €189.5m in 2025/26, accounting for a €39m increase in just one year.
Their return to Camp Nou last November has also helped, even though the stadium is still in development.
Camp Nou initially returned with a capacity of 45,401 before going up to more than 62,000 in March.
Barcelona have scheduled completion for 2028, at which point the stadium is expected to accommodate around 105,000 supporters.
Even without full capacity, Barcelona’s matchday income increased by €3m, while hospitality revenue jumped by more than €30m compared with the previous season at Montjuic.
Membership income also rose from €31.6m to €40.1m, but still below 2022/23’s record of €65m.
Barcelona expect the wider Espai Barca project to generate around €250m in additional annual revenue once fully completed.
