Julian Alvarez’s representatives believe Atletico will offer striker to Barcelona in January

Barcelona are refusing to give up on Julian Alvarez despite failing to sign him this summer. 

The Catalan giants plan to launch a blockbuster move for the 26-year-old in 2027. 

Alvarez’s representatives believe a transfer is still possible. They expect Atletico could approach Barcelona in the winter transfer window, per El Chiringuito TV. 

The striker is under contract until 2030, but he has made it clear his ultimate ambition is to join the Blaugrana. 

His public desire to join Atletico’s rivals has angered the supporters, who booed him during a 2-2 draw against Villarreal last month. 

He was absent on Sunday when his team defeated Sevilla 3-1 at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. 

Barcelona pushed hard to secure a deal for Alvarez following the departures of Ferran Torres and Robert Lewandowski. 

Atletico firmly refused to negotiate with their domestic rivals, and a transfer didn’t materialise. 

Barcelona have signed Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal to address their immediate need for a striker. 

The Brazilian is a short-term fix, and they plan to renew their pursuit of Alvarez next year. 

The Argentina international is regarded as one of the best forwards in the world, known for his clinical finishing, relentless work rate and tactical intelligence. 

He has bagged 49 goals and 17 assists in 107 senior appearances for Atletico. 

Alvarez had an opportunity to join Arsenal this summer, but he does not want to return to the Premier League.
