Atletico Madrid gave Julian Alvarez written consent to move to Barcelona

Atletico Madrid gave Julian Alvarez written permission to negotiate a transfer to Barcelona, per El Chiringuito TV. 

Alvarez hasn’t hidden his desire to join Barcelona this summer, but Atletico have firmly maintained they will not sell him to a direct rival. 

In a significant twist, journalist Jordi Jota claims the Rojiblancos granted the forward written consent to discuss a move to the Catalan club. 

Jota says he has seen the document. 

Alvarez has been a key first-team player for Atletico since joining from Manchester City in 2024. 

He has bagged 49 goals and 17 assists in 107 appearances across all competitions. 

However, his future at the Metropolitano Stadium has been a topic of debate this summer. 

Alvarez has a contract until 2030, but he wants a fresh challenge. 

Arsenal are keen to sign a world-class forward before the transfer window closes. 

After failing to sign Vinicius Junior, the Gunners have set their sights on Alvarez. 

The Argentine has told manager Mikel Arteta he doesn’t want to join Arsenal. 

Alvarez could still change his transfer stance, but a move to Arsenal looks increasingly unlikely with only hours remaining in the transfer window. 

The 26-year-old has returned to training with Atletico after missing several sessions due to illness.
