Barcelona set 48-hour deadline to complete Rodri signing from Manchester City

Barcelona have set a 48-hour deadline to complete the signing of Rodri from Manchester City, per Spanish outlet Sport.

They plan to unveil Rodri at the team’s presentation during the Joan Gamper Trophy.

The two clubs have been locked in negotiations, but those talks haven’t produced a breakthrough.

City rejected Barcelona’s latest offer of €60 million plus €10m in add-ons for the 30-year-old.

The Premier League giants continue to demand €80m to let him leave this summer. Rodri has only a year left on his contract, and Barcelona believe their current offer is fair.

The former Atletico Madrid star is widely regarded as one of the world’s best midfielders.

He was instrumental in Spain’s 2026 World Cup triumph, featuring in all eight games. He was awarded the tournament’s Golden Ball for his excellent performances.

City rate him highly, but he has made it clear he wants to return to Spain. They are looking to sign Enzo Fernandez to replace Rodri, but Chelsea value him at €140m.

The Manchester club will likely try to negotiate a lower fee for Fernandez and squeeze the maximum amount possible from Rodri’s sale.
