Barcelona make improved £55m bid for Manchester City midfielder Rodri

Barcelona have reportedly submitted an improved bid of £55 million for Manchester City star Rodri. 

City quickly turned down the Blaugrana’s opening £38.5m offer. Their next proposal of £51.4m also failed to convince them to part ways with Rodri. 

Barcelona have now improved their offer to around £55m as positive talks continue with City, per transfer reporter Ben Jacobs.  

Rodri has only a year left on his contract at the Etihad Stadium, and he has made it clear he doesn’t want to renew his deal. 

Despite their weak negotiating position, City insist on their £60m valuation being met. 

Barcelona’s latest offer is close to their asking price, and an agreement is expected to be reached soon. 

Real Madrid were working on a deal to sign Rodri earlier this summer. However, Barcelona entered the race and leapfrogged Madrid to agree personal terms with the Spaniard. 

Rodri was instrumental in Spain’s 2026 World Cup triumph. He featured in all eight matches for his country and was awarded the tournament’s Golden Ball for his impressive displays. 

The 30-year-old has been a key player for Man City. Since arriving in Manchester from Atletico Madrid in 2019, he has won four Premier League titles and the 2022/23 Champions League.
