Fenerbahce submit bid for Romelu Lukaku as Napoli eye Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus to replace him

Fenerbahce have submitted a €5 million offer for Napoli striker Romelu Lukaku, according to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio. 

The Super Lig giants are keen to sign the former Chelsea and Manchester United centre-forward as they look to wrestle the league crown back from rivals Galatasaray.

Fenerbahce have already signed Mason Greenwood, Nathan Ake, Sidiki Cherif, Vedat Muriqi and Amara Diouf. They now have their sights on the Belgian international. 

Lukaku struggled last season due to a long-term injury and was left out of the squad due to disciplinary issues.

However, he delivered 14 goals and 10 assists in 36 Serie A appearances during the previous campaign. 

The 33-year-old is still one of the best centre-forwards in Europe on his day. A new environment might do him a world of good as he strives to return to top form.

Napoli and Fenerbahce are still some way off from agreeing a deal, but there is an expectation that it will be done.

Major League Soccer clubs have also shown interest in securing his services, but it seems he is off to Fenerbahce if they can agree a deal.

Napoli are trying to replace Lukaku by signing Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus. The Brazilian is surplus to requirements under manager Mikel Arteta.

A fee of around €20 million is being discussed, but it is unclear if that will be enough to convince the Gunners to sell. 

Jesus has also struggled with injuries over the past few seasons, which have prevented him from finding his groove. Like Lukaku, he could benefit from a change in environment. 

Manager Massimiliano Allegri will be tasked with delivering Napoli’s fifth Scudetto this season after a disappointing title defence last term.
