Arsenal announce signing of Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle

Arsenal have announced they have signed Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United. 

The midfielder has signed a four-year deal with a further one-year option. 

Guimaraes said: “I’m so excited to join you. I will give you my best, I promise. I’m your warrior, I’ll never give up. Hopefully we can create many, many good memories together.”

Arsenal have missed out on signing Vinicius Junior, who extended his contract with Real Madrid until 2032. 

However, they have completed the signing of Guimaraes, who is widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League. 

The 28-year-old has made 195 appearances across all competitions, bagging 31 goals and 32 assists. 

He played a key role in Newcastle’s League Cup triumph in 2024-25, which ended the club’s 70-year wait for a domestic trophy. 

Guimaraes was part of the Brazil squad at the World Cup, starting every match before Norway eliminated them in the round of 16. 

Newcastle had no intention of selling him after losing Anthony Gordon to Barcelona and Sandro Tonali to Tottenham Hotspur. 

However, he informed the club that he wanted to join Arsenal. The Gunners initially expressed a willingness to pay a fee up to £60 million, which Newcastle turned down. 

The two clubs ultimately agreed a £75m fee.
