West Ham United have confirmed that Amanda Staveley has agreed a deal to secure a 25.1 percent stake in the club through a consortium that also includes Mehrdad Ghodoussi and PCP Capital Partners.
The agreement comes after Vanessa Gold, daughter of the club’s former chairman David Gold, decided to sell her family’s shares.
However, the transaction is not yet complete. West Ham shareholders will have the opportunity to purchase the stake through a pre-emption process before the sale can be finalised.
The proposed deal follows the collapse of an earlier agreement that would have resulted in Czech businessman and current shareholder Daniel Kretinsky increasing his holding in the club.
That arrangement was reached in June, but ultimately failed to go ahead, forcing the Gold family to pursue a new buyer.
Vanessa Gold said her main priority had always been to protect the club’s long-term future, continuing the values her father upheld throughout his time at West Ham.
“As the daughter of David Gold, it was a great honour to step into a joint chair and director role at the club following his passing in 2023,” she said in a statement.
“Over the past three years I have taken huge personal pride in continuing that legacy and will always be hugely grateful to the staff, players and fans who allowed me to do so.
“On June 12, Daniel Kretinsky and I agreed a sale that would have made EP Group the single largest shareholder in West Ham.
“Unfortunately, since that time, the original deal and other alternatives that we have discussed could not be brought to fruition.
“Amanda Staveley, Mehrdad Ghodoussi and PCP Capital Partners will bring deep experience and understanding of what it takes to lead a successful football club, and I have every confidence in what she and her partners can bring to West Ham.”
Staveley has been looking to invest in another club since she left Newcastle United.
Alongside Ghodoussi, she helped oversee a remarkable turnaround at St James’ Park, with Newcastle progressing from a team battling relegation to regular European contenders before leaving in 2024.
Staveley’s investment would be a massive boost for the Hammers as they look for a swift return to the Premier League this season.
