Manchester United deny reports they have pulled out of Ederson transfer

Manchester United have denied that they have walked away from a deal for Atalanta’s Ederson, per Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas.

Rumours circulated on social media earlier this month that United pulled the plug on the deal due to concerns flagged up during Ederson’s medical.

However, the club insists that the process is still ongoing and that no final decision has been made.

Strengthening the midfield is a priority after Casemiro’s departure and Manuel Ugarte’s long-term injury on World Cup duty with Uruguay.

However, they have suffered several setbacks in their pursuit of key targets.

They backed out of discussions for Elliot Anderson due to Nottingham Forest’s huge asking price.

United were then beaten to the signing of Mateus Fernandes by Tottenham Hotspur after they agreed to meet West Ham United’s £85 million valuation.

Ederson looked destined to sign after the club agreed a deal with Atalanta, but United have yet to complete the transfer.

The summer transfer window officially opened on June 15, and United are yet to make their first signing.

The Red Devils are expected to announce Andrey Santos, who has already completed his medical after a £50m agreement with Chelsea.
