AC Milan target former Liverpool boss Arne Slot as new manager

Arne Slot is the leading candidate to become AC Milan’s new manager, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

Slot has just been sacked by Liverpool following an underwhelming second season at the club.

He guided Liverpool to a Premier League title in his first campaign, an achievement that could have convinced Milan to make a move for him.

The Dutchman boasted a 58.4 percent winning ratio as the Reds’ manager, a figure bettered only by Jurgen Klopp in the club’s history.

The 47-year-old also led Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title and the KNVB Cup before joining Liverpool in 2024.

Slot’s potential appointment may not be wholeheartedly accepted by Milan fans, considering the dire end to his reign at Liverpool.

The Rossoneri have been linked with several managerial candidates following Massimiliano Allegri’s sacking.

They have been linked with Andoni Iraola, who is the leading candidate to replace Slot at Liverpool.

Oliver Glasner is also reportedly on their radar. The Austrian guided Crystal Palace to the Europa Conference League title this season, making him a viable option.

Milan have missed out on Champions League qualification for the second consecutive season.

They aim to make several changes after sacking Allegri, chiex executive officer Giorgio Furlani, sporting director Igli Tare and head of recruitment Geoffrey Moncada.

Ramon Planes is reportedly the front-runner for the sporting director role. He previously worked at Real Betis.

Milan must ensure they appoint the right candidates to the various vacant roles at the club as they seek to regain their status among European heavyweights.
