Chelsea, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are interested in Ibrahima Konate

Ibrahima Konate is set to leave Liverpool as a free agent this summer after failing to agree a new deal.

Konate told reporters that he was close to agreeing a new contract last month, but negotiations have now stopped.

There is a gap between the two parties ‘in terms of value and wages‘ which has led to a breakdown in negotiations.

Konate is the third player who will leave Liverpool this summer as a free agent, alongside Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson.

He made 183 appearances across all competitions for the Reds, weighing in with seven goals and four assists.

European heavyweights battling for Konate

Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are all interested in Konate, according to L’Equipe.

The Blues are looking to sign a centre-back with uncertainty surrounding Wesley Fofana’s future.

There are concerns that he will not be a good fit under incoming manager Xabi Alonso.

However, the Daily Mail claims that Chelsea have played down their interest in Konate.

Kim Min-jae’s possible exit could be driving Bayern’s interest in the France international.

Madrid are targeting Konate as a potential replacement for David Alaba. They have been long-term admirers of the Frenchman.

With several clubs vying to sign him, the 27-year-old could eventually get the pay rise Liverpool were reluctant to offer him.
