Atletico Madrid are considering a move for Manchester City midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, according to the Daily Mail.
The Netherlands international arrived at the Etihad Stadium from AC Milan in a deal worth around £46.5 million last summer.
However, Atletico are monitoring his situation closely after an inconsistent first season under Pep Guardiola.
Reijnders featured 47 times across all competitions for City during the 2025/26 campaign, scoring seven goals and helping the club secure two trophies.
Despite his impressive numbers, the Dutchman struggled to cement a guaranteed starting role during the second half of the season as Guardiola rotated heavily in midfield.
That uncertainty has alerted Atletico, who are exploring whether they can tempt the 27-year-old away from Manchester.
Diego Simeone is eager to refresh his squad following another frustrating domestic campaign, and Atletico are actively assessing multiple midfield options.
Reijnders is admired for his technical quality, ball progression and attacking instincts, although Atletico are aware that prising him away from City will be extremely complicated.
Atletico are also waiting for a response from former City star Bernardo Silva, who is currently a free agent.
The Portuguese playmaker has received an offer from the Madrid club, but Barcelona are his preferred destination.
Tensions between Atletico and Barcelona have risen in recent weeks following the latter’s opening proposal of around £85m for striker Julian Alvarez.
Atletico value the Argentina international at more than £110m and won’t budge after allowing Antoine Griezmann to depart this summer.
Meanwhile, Atletico are in talks with Wolverhampton Wanderers over Brazilian midfielder Joao Gomes after previously agreeing a deal worth around £39m.
While Gomes would offer steel and defensive intensity in midfield, Reijnders is viewed as a more attack-minded profile capable of adding creativity and dynamism to Simeone’s side.
