Barcelona and PSG keeping tabs on Crystal Palace gem Jaydee Canvot

Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are keeping tabs on Crystal Palace defender Jaydee Canvot following a promising debut campaign in England, according to L’Equipe.

Canvot joined the Eagles last summer and had some shaky performances, but ultimately broke into the first team and showed he can become a world-beater.

The 19-year-old played a key role as the Eagles won the Europa Conference League, defeating Rayo Vallecano in Leipzig. He played 12 matches in that run, helping to record four clean sheets.

His performances have caught the eye of English clubs and Barcelona.

The Catalans are looking for a new central defender this summer, but Canvot will likely be one for the future.

PSG were reportedly keeping tabs on him while he was still at Toulouse before he joined Palace.

The Parisians have been building a predominantly French team under Luis Campos and Luis Enrique.

They could swoop for him in the future with captain Marquinho entering the twilight of his career.

Canvot may not yet command the headlines or transfer buzz surrounding Maxence Lacroix, but Palace know they are sitting on another defensive gem.

He already possesses the physical profile elite clubs crave. He is athletic, aggressive in duels and dominant in the air thanks to his excellent leap.

There are rough edges to his game, as expected for a teenager adapting to Premier League football, but the foundations are undeniable.

His anticipation and positioning will improve with experience, while regular game time should accelerate his development.

Barcelona and PSG monitoring him this early says plenty about his ceiling.

Palace have developed a reputation for nurturing young talent before selling for huge fees, and Canvot could easily become the next name on that list.
