Crystal Palace fans were ambushed ahead of the Europa Conference League final at the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig, according to the Daily Mail.
Dozens of thugs dressed in black shirts ran towards fans wearing Palace colours before police moved in to separate the groups.
Another video showed bottles and chairs being thrown as the situation quickly turned chaotic.
Thousands of supporters from England and Spain have travelled to Leipzig for Wednesday’s final, with many arriving without match tickets.
Authorities moved quickly to control the unrest, with police sealing off areas near the city’s main Market Square.
Dozens of people were detained for several hours for disturbing public order and were temporarily banned from entering the city centre until Wednesday morning.
The final is a major occasion for both clubs, with Palace and Vallecano each chasing the first major European trophy.
Whoever comes out on top will also secure a place in the Europa League next season.
Palace manager Oliver Glasner will be keen to lead the Eagles to European glory in his final game in charge of the club.
Glasner announced earlier this year that he would leave at the end of the season after guiding Palace through one of the most successful periods in their recent history.
This memorable European run comes after the Austrian manager led the Eagles to FA Cup success last season, the club’s first-ever piece of silverware.
Palace captain Dean Henderson spoke warmly about the manager before the final.
“He’ll be a huge miss,” Henderson said. “He knows that from Monday. The players made a send-off video for him that spoke from the heart.
“Since the manager came in, we’ve built that rapport. The fans can really help us here, as they did in previous big games.
“It would be a huge honour to win the trophy, but I’ve got to focus on the process and not the outcome at this time.”
