Filip Jorgensen is reportedly pushing to leave Chelsea this summer after growing frustrated over his lack of regular first-team football.
The Denmark international has informed Chelsea that he wants a move in search of a guaranteed starting role elsewhere ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Chelsea are also believed to be open to selling the 24-year-old if suitable offers arrive during the transfer window.
Jorgensen joined Chelsea from Villarreal for around €24.5m in 2024, but he has struggled to establish himself as the club’s long-term number one.
The goalkeeper largely operated as back-up to Robert Sanchez despite being signed to compete directly with him.
Jorgensen has made just 34 appearances in all competitions during his time at Chelsea. Several high-profile mistakes damaged his hopes of becoming the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.
One of the most notable moments came during Chelsea’s Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain when a misplaced pass gifted a goal to Bradley Barcola at the Parc des Princes.
Chelsea are not expected to enter the market for another goalkeeper if Jorgensen departs.
They will promote Belgian goalkeeper Mike Penders to the senior squad ahead of next season.
Penders, who spent last season on loan at Strasbourg, is viewed internally as one of the brightest young goalkeepers in Europe.
He is expected to compete with Sanchez for the number one spot under new manager Xabi Alonso.
Chelsea’s willingness to sanction Jorgensen’s departure also reflects their confidence in Penders’ long-term potential.
A permanent transfer currently appears the most likely outcome for Jorgensen, with Chelsea prepared to negotiate on favourable terms to facilitate a deal.
The club are also continuing work on reshaping the squad this summer following Alonso’s arrival after the club failed to qualify for Europe next season.
