Barcelona eyeing move for Harry Kane this summer

Barcelona are interested in signing Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane this summer, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Englishman has bagged 58 goals and seven assists in 50 appearances this season.

Kane joined Bayern three seasons ago and has scored 143 goals in 146 appearances, breaking multiple records previously held by Robert Lewandowski, who left for Barcelona.

Lewandowski is leaving Barca at the end of this season, and they have shortlisted Kane as his replacement.

However, they know it will be difficult to secure his services even though his contract expires in 2027.

Unsurprisingly, Barcelona feel Julian Alvarez (Atletico Madrid) and Joao Pedro (Chelsea) are more attainable.

Barcelona are yet to make a formal approach to any of the names on their list and have only signalled interest to representatives.

Even the so-called attainable options come with enormous complications.

Atletico have zero intention of entertaining offers for Alvarez after building their attack around him.

Chelsea only signed Pedro recently and view him as a long-term asset with elite upside. Kane is Munich’s marquee figure despite his age.

Kane would command a massive transfer fee and salary package, and Alvarez could easily cost north of €120m in today’s market.

Chelsea would likely demand a similarly outrageous figure even to begin talks over Pedro.

Given their ongoing financial limitations, Barcelona may be better served by taking a calculated gamble on a younger striker with elite potential rather than chasing blockbuster names.

Ferran Torres has already shown he can contribute centrally.

Pairing him with an emerging talent may prove a smarter short-term solution than pursuing another financially draining superstar.
