Rogers inspires Aston Villa’s Europa League glory – Tuchel must start him at the World Cup

Aston Villa beat SC Freiburg 3-0 in the UEFA Europa League final on Wednesday, ending their 44-year wait for a European title.

Morgan Rogers was one of the standout performers for Unai Emery’s side. He scored a goal, becoming the youngest Englishman to score in a major European final in 25 years.

He also provided an assist, capping off a brilliant individual performance.

Having helped Villa end their European title drought, Rogers will now be looking to play a key role for England at this summer’s World Cup.

Rogers must start for England at the World Cup

The 23-year-old is expected to be named in manager Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the tournament, which will be announced on Friday.

He is likely to compete with Jude Bellingham, Cole Palmer, Eberechi Eze and Phil Foden for the number ten role.

Rogers has outperformed his competitors this season. He also showed that he can deliver on the big stage with his performance against Freiburg.

He showed his vision to set up Youri Tielemans for the first goal, whipping a cross into the box for his teammate to volley into the bottom corner.

Rogers was also on the scoresheet in the 4-2 win over Liverpool, helping the Villans to secure Champions League qualification and further underlining his ability to deliver in big games.

If England are serious about being triumphant at the World Cup, players such as Rogers must have a starting berth.
