Cristiano Ronaldo fires Al-Nassr to first Saudi Pro League title in seven years

Cristiano Ronaldo clinched his first Saudi Pro-League title after Al-Nassr beat Damac 4-1 at Al-Awwal Park on Thursday.

Ronaldo recently missed the chance to win his first silverware of the season when Al-Nassr lost 1-0 to Gamba Osaka in the AFC Champions League Two.

Al-Nassr headed into the game needing to win, with second-placed Al-Hilal trailing them by just two points.

The pressure increased when Al-Hilal took the lead at Al-Fayha.

They missed two big chances to score the opener in the 21st minute when Sadio Mane failed to apply the finish to Kingsley Coman’s cross, before Ronaldo headed wide from the follow-up.

Mane gave them the lead in the 34th minute, rising highest to head Joao Felix’s corner into the net.

Felix came close to giving Al-Nassr a two-goal cushion before half-time after combining with Ronaldo. However, his effort was saved by goalkeeper Kewin.

Coman made it 2-0 after the break, producing a powerful strike from just outside of the box to beat Kewin.

Al-Nassr’s Mohamed Simakan was penalised for handball in the 56th minute following a VAR check. Morlaye Sylla made it 2-1 from the penalty spot.

Ronaldo restored their two-goal lead, bending a free-kick beyond Kewin’s reach from an acute angle.

He completed the scoring in the 80th minute, sealing Al-Nassr’s victory and ending their seven-year wait for a league title.
