Erling Braut Haaland’s late strike at Bournemouth not enough as Arsenal clinch Premier League title

Manchester City were held to a 1-1 draw by Bournemouth in the Premier League on Tuesday, ending their Premier League title hopes.

The Cityzen trail the Gunners by four points ahead of the final matchday. The result secured European qualification for Bournemouth.

The two sides showed attacking intent early on, but City looked more threatening.

Antoine Semenyo got to the byline to pull a ball back for Jeremy Doku, but Djordje Petrovic saved his effort.

Semenyo thought he had given the visitors the lead in the 12th minute with a clinical finish, but his effort was ruled offside.

City created two consecutive chances, but Evanilson produced vital defensive contributions to avert the danger.

Eli Junior Kroupi put Bournemouth ahead in the 39th minute. He was picked out by Adrien Truffert before curling into the top corner, leaving Gianluigi Donnarumma rooted to the spot.

He is the first teenager to score against each of the teams finishing in the top three in a single Premier League campaign.

Nico O’Reilly came close to drawing City level after the break, but Petrovic denied him.

Donnarumma was called into action for the first time in the 52nd minute, keeping out Evanilson’s effort towards the near post.

Bournemouth worked another good opening on the hour mark, but they could not trouble Donnarumma.

David Brooks missed two golden chances to seal the victory for the hosts. His misses proved costly, as Haaland rescued a point for the Cityzens in stoppage time.
