Biggest Real Madrid stars who could be axed by Jose Mourinho

Jose Mourinho is in advanced talks with Real Madrid over replacing Alvaro Arbeloa.

Los Blancos president Florentino Perez is the main supporter of bringing back Mourinho, as he believes he can restore calm to the squad.

Several big stars are facing uncertain futures ahead of the summer transfer window, and Mourinho will likely have a big say in who stays or leaves the club.

Vinicius Junior

Vinicius has bagged 15 goals and six assists in 35 La Liga appearances this season.

However, his contract will run out in 2027, and he has yet to sign a new deal.

Madrid can’t allow one of their prized assets to leave on a free, and they could look for suitors if he continues to stall on an extension.

Vinicius reportedly wants parity with Kylian Mbappe’s wages, and the Spanish giants are reluctant to comply.

Eduardo Camavinga

Camavinga has had a season to forget, making just 16 league starts.

The midfielder has also been left out of Didier Deschamps’ squad for the 2026 World Cup

Despite his struggles, the 23-year-old is a highly sought-after player.

The former Rennes star has admirers in the Premier League, and Madrid could recoup a significant fee for him.

Kylian Mbappe

Mbappe has been impressive in 2025-26, bagging 41 goals and seven assists in 42 appearances across all competitions.

Despite his performances, millions of fans want the Frenchman out of the club.

A recent online petition demanding Mbappe’s removal gathered around 40 million signatures.

However, it is highly unlikely that Madrid will part company with him.

Federico Valverde

Valverde has started 30 La Liga matches this season, with 13 goal contributions to his name.

But his future at the club has been thrown into doubt following his training-ground bust-up with Aurelien Tchouameni.

Manchester United have been linked with Valverde, and they could test Madrid’s resolve with a big offer in the summer transfer window.
