Liverpool prepared to pay £75m for Yan Diomande to unlock Alexander Isak

Alexander Isak has struggled since his £125 million move from Newcastle United to Liverpool last summer, scoring four goals in 22 games.

Liverpool retain confidence in Isak and are ready to sign a right winger to get the best out of him.

The i Paper claims they are ready to spend £75 million to sign RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande.

The Ivorian youngster is the primary target to replace Mohamed Salah, who will leave at the end of the season.

Diomande’s teammate Antonio Nusa and Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola are also on their radar.

Why Diomande’s move could benefit Isak

Diomande is enjoying a breakout season at Leipzig, bagging 13 goals and nine assists in 35 games.

The 19-year-old is capable of disrupting defensive shape with his flair and pace. He has averaged the most successful dribbles per game in the Bundesliga this season.

His ability to beat defenders in one-vs-one situations would help Isak get into better goalscoring positions.

Diomande’s ability to pick out teammates in threatening areas – ranking fourth for big chances created in the German top flight – would also help the Swedish striker score more regularly.

He would also benefit from playing with Isak. The 26-year-old likes to drop to the flanks, stretch defences and find teammates in dangerous positions.

However, Isak needs to overcome his fitness concerns for this plan to work. The former Newcastle man has missed 32 games due to injuries this season.

The Reds also have to win the race to sign Diomande. Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are also monitoring him.
