Stars align for Arsenal to secure long-awaited Premier League crown despite Man City win

Arsenal continue to look over their shoulders in the Premier League title race after Manchester City defeated Crystal Palace 3-0 to keep the pressure on the table-toppers last night.

The Gunners sit on 79 points with Pep Guardiola’s men (77) giving them a serious chase.

They need two more wins from their final two games to secure a first league title since 2004.

Arsenal face already-relegated Burnley at the Emirates Stadium before visiting Crystal Palace on Sunday, May 24.

They will be hoping that fatigue creeps in after City lock horns with Chelsea this Saturday in the FA Cup final, before a quick turnaround to face Bournemouth on Tuesday.

City’s final Premier League game is against Aston Villa, a repeat of two seasons ago when they defeated them to clinch the title. However, Arsenal are in control of their fate.

After years of near-misses, collapses and painful lessons, Arsenal are exactly where every title contender wants to be. The equation is brutally simple now. Two wins. Six points.

Nothing will be handed to Arsenal, especially with City breathing down their necks, but the stars are aligning for this to be their moment.

The nerves will be unbearable. Every misplaced pass will feel magnified.

However, champions are defined by how they handle these exact moments, and Arsenal have spent the entire season proving they belong back at the top table.

If they avoid one final stumble, the wait for a Premier League crown should finally be over.
