Barcelona are interested in signing Bournemouth star Eli Junior Kroupi, according to Sky Sports.
The France Under-21 international centre-forward has caught the eye this season, bagging 12 goals in his debut Premier League campaign.
Kroupi’s exploits have caught the attention of several clubs, including Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal.
Barca are preparing to lose Robert Lewandowski this summer when his contract expires, and they need a replacement.
Barcelona’s first-choice target to fill the gap is Julian Alvarez, but securing his services would be too expensive. Kroupi is a cheaper alternative.
However, Bournemouth are adamant that Kroupi is not for sale this summer.
Kruopi would be a gamble for Barcelona
There is no doubt Kroupi has the talent to reach the very top.
Despite this, Barcelona would be taking a huge gamble by placing the burden of replacing Lewandowski on the shoulders of a 19-year-old still learning the demands of elite football.
Lewandowski is one of the greatest goalscorers of his generation, a player who has repeatedly delivered in front of goal throughout his career.
Barcelona cannot afford to downgrade experience and reliability in favour of raw potential alone.
One strong campaign at Bournemouth is not enough evidence that Kroupi is ready to lead the line for a club where every match carries enormous pressure and scrutiny.
From the player’s perspective, the move feels premature.
Bournemouth are giving him regular opportunities, trust and the perfect environment to develop without overwhelming expectations.
Another year or two refining his game in the Premier League would benefit him far more than rushing into a career-defining transfer before he is fully ready.
