RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande is Liverpool’s first choice target to replace Mohamed Salah, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg.
Salah is set to leave Liverpool this summer after nine years at the club.
Liverpool are currently in talks with Diomande’s new agency, Roc Nation Sports, but an agreement has not been reached. They have also not begun talks with Leipzig over a potential deal.
The German outfit are reluctant to sell Diomande. They are ready to extend his contract on improved financial terms.
However, they could sell if any club matches their valuation, reportedly up to €100 million.
Paris Saint-Germain are interested in the Ivorian international. Their delegation, led by Luis Campos, have held talks with his agent.
Diomande is also on Manchester United’s radar.
Diomande could be Salah’s perfect replacement
Diomande has enjoyed a breakthrough season in the Bundesliga, tallying 12 goals and nine assists in 29 appearances.
The 19-year-old is already showing exceptional qualities, making him one of Europe’s finest wingers.
Diomande has been the best dribbler in the German top-flight, averaging 3.5 successful dribbles per game, significantly higher than second-placed Antonio Nusa (2.3).
He ranks in the 95th percentile for progressive carries, highlighting his ability to carry the ball into dangerous positions.
Diomande’s decision-making has also been impressive, placing in the 93rd percentile for non-penalty goals, 89th percentile for assists and 92nd percentile for key passes.
Liverpool must ensure they beat the competition to sign the promising forward.
