Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo has agreed a new long-term contract with the club, extending his stay at Stamford Bridge in a move that underlines his growing importance to the team.
The Ecuador international has accepted improved terms after establishing himself as a central figure in Chelsea’s midfield since his record-breaking move from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2023.
His previous deal, which was initially set to run for eight years, has now been extended further, with the new agreement expected to keep him at the club until 2033.
Caicedo had been seeking improved conditions following a strong run of performances that saw him play a key role in Chelsea’s recent successes, including their triumphs in the Conference League and the Club World Cup.
The 24-year-old has become one of the first names on the team sheet, featuring consistently in midfield and offering both defensive stability and composure in possession.
He was the only player to start every Premier League match for Chelsea last season and has remained ever-present in the current campaign, highlighting his durability and tactical importance.
Chelsea view Caicedo as one of the leading defensive midfielders in world football, and he is now part of the club’s leadership group as they continue to build a squad for long-term success.
The new contract forms part of a broader strategy by the club to reward key performers, with captain Reece James also recently committing his future.
Chelsea have adopted an incentive-based structure in several of these deals, with improved terms linked to performance targets such as qualification for the Champions League.
Caicedo himself has shown little interest in speculation surrounding a potential move elsewhere, previously stating his desire to remain and “be a legend” at the club.
His commitment offers a timely boost for Chelsea, who are currently pushing for a return to the Champions League places in the Premier League.
The midfielder’s influence has been reflected not only in his consistency but also in his growing output, with goals and all-round displays adding further value to his role in the side.
Chelsea are also understood to be in discussions with other key players over new contracts, including defender Levi Colwill, as they look to secure the core of their squad for the future.
For now, Caicedo’s renewal represents a clear statement of intent from both player and club, reinforcing their shared belief in the long-term project at Stamford Bridge.
