Bayern Munich snatched a dramatic 4-3 victory over Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-final second leg at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday.
The Bavarians have progressed to the semi-finals after winning 6-4 on aggregate. They will face holders Paris Saint-Germain, who knocked out Liverpool on Tuesday.
Madrid opened the scoring inside 45 seconds as Arder Guler curled the ball into the net from 25 yards, scoring their fastest goal in the competition.
Bayern restored parity in the sixth minute as Aleksandar Pavlovic headed Joshua Kimmich’s cross beyond Andriy Lunin.
Guler restored Madrid’s lead just before the half-hour mark, curling a beautiful free-kick past Neuer.
Bayern drew level once again in the 38th minute, as Harry Kane registered his 50th goal across all competitions.
Vinicius Junior nearly put the visitors back ahead with a powerful strike, only to be denied by the woodwork.
The Brazilian set up Madrid’s third before half-time, sliding a wonderful pass to Kylian Mbappe’s path, who coolly slotted past Neuer.
The Frenchman came close to getting another in the 56th minute with a clean volley, but Neuer was equal to the task.
Bayern’s first genuine attempt in the second period came after the hour mark when Michael Olise curled the ball towards the top corner, but Lunin tipped over.
Eduardo Camavinga was sent off two minutes from time, and Bayern took advantage of their numerical advantage.
Luis Diaz found a space inside the box and curled a shot into the top corner to level the scores.
Olise scored a dramatic winner in stoppage time to seal Bayern’s spot in the semi-finals.
