Newcastle United remain committed to Eddie Howe despite a challenging season, with the club planning a full review of the managerial situation this summer.
The club’s ownership group, led by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, are continuing to back Howe during the current campaign.
However, all parties are expected to assess the team’s progress and long-term direction once the season concludes.
Newcastle’s recent form has placed increased scrutiny on the manager’s position. The club are currently in the bottom half of the Premier League table after a run of inconsistent results.
They have won just three of their last 11 league matches, a sequence that has significantly impacted their push for European qualification.
Newcastle’s most recent setback came in a 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace, where they conceded late goals.
That result left them 10 points adrift of the final Champions League place and outside the positions that would secure European football next season.
Despite those struggles, Howe continues to command strong support within the club.
The 48-year-old is highly regarded for his work since taking charge in 2021 following the club’s takeover.
He guided Newcastle away from relegation in his first season and later secured Champions League qualification for the first time in two decades.
Howe also delivered Newcastle’s first major trophy since the 1950s with victory in the 2025 Carabao Cup.
Those achievements have strengthened his standing within the club, even during a difficult campaign.
The review process is considered a routine measure rather than a signal of an imminent managerial change.
There have been no advanced discussions regarding a replacement at this stage.
Newcastle chief executive David Hopkinson recently addressed the situation while speaking about the club’s financial results.
His comments, which suggested no change was being considered ‘at the moment, were intended to avoid speculation rather than signal immediate uncertainty.
Howe has also reiterated his commitment to the role.
Speaking recently, he stated he remains ‘100 percent’ focused on Newcastle, while acknowledging the difficulty of planning too far ahead during a demanding period.
Newcastle showed promise earlier in the campaign. A strong run of results in January had placed them within reach of the top four positions.
However, a subsequent dip in form has seen them fall away from those targets. The club will now look to finish the season strongly before conducting a full assessment in the summer.
That review is expected to shape Newcastle’s next steps as they aim to re-establish themselves as contenders for European places.
