West Ham thrash Wolves 4-0 to climb out of the relegation zone

West Ham United battered Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-0 in the Premier League at the London Stadium on Friday night.

The visitors almost made an early breakthrough via Andre, but he dragged his effort wide. Yerson Mosquera then headed wide from a long throw.

The hosts were presented with their first chance when Jarrod Bowen latched onto Pablo Fornals’ pass, but Jose Sa comfortably saved his strike.

Konstantinos Mavropanos opened the scoring after he met Bowen’s corner with a thumping header in the 42nd minute.

The Hammers almost doubled their lead after Taty Castellanos and Pablo linked, but Sa made a fine stop.

The visitors almost pulled one back after the break, but Angel Gomes’ free kick came off the post. Bowen also struck the post at the other end.

The visitors almost equalised when Ladislav Krejci met Hugo Bueno’s corner, but he headed wide.

Castellanos doubled the Hammers’ advantage after 66 minutes. He linked up with Pablo before slotting his shot beyond Sa.

He soon scored his second of the evening when his deflected strike nestled into the net.

Mavropanos completed the scoring in the 83rd minute after he met Bowen’s corner again with a powerful header.

West Ham have climbed out of the relegation zone, with Tottenham Hotspur dropping into the bottom three ahead of their clash with Sunderland on Sunday.
