Liverpool make decision on Arne Slot’s future after Champions League defeat against PSG

Liverpool have made a decision about Arne Slot’s future after their demoralising Champions League defeat at Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday.

The Reds were completely dominated by PSG, who scored in each half to take a two-goal advantage to the second leg at Anfield.

The defeat came after a 4-0 demolition by Manchester City last weekend, which dumped them out of the FA Cup at the quarter-final stage.

Despite the recent results, Slot’s future at the club doesn’t appear to be in any immediate danger.

According to the Telegraph, Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group want the Dutch boss to retain his role.

They believe factors such as the tragic death of Diogo Jota, coupled with several players suffering a form dip, have contributed to the team’s struggles this campaign.

Slot took over as Liverpool manager in the summer of 2024, replacing Jurgen Klopp.

The 47-year-old made an immediate impact, leading his side to the Premier League title in his debut season.

Things have gone south this season, with the Reds producing a series of dismal performances.

They are on the precipice of Champions League elimination after the 2-0 loss at PSG, while their Premier League position doesn’t offer much hope to the supporters.

Last summer’s spending spree has failed to deliver the desired results, and a reset will be required at the end of the campaign.
