Pep Guardiola believes Rodri will extend his stay at Manchester City, but will understand if he wants to join Real Madrid.
Rodri has been linked with a move to Madrid. He previously played for Atletico Madrid, but recently said that wouldn’t prevent him from joining their rivals.
The 29-year-old’s contract at the Etihad Stadium will expire in June 2027, but the club have offered him a new deal.
Guardiola is hopeful that Rodri will prolong his stay in Manchester, but concedes it is not certain.
He said: “There isn’t a single player who would turn down the chance to play for Real Madrid.
“My wish has always been for Rodri to stay at this club for as long as possible, because he is an amazing player of the highest calibre, but everyone’s life is their own.”
"There is not one player that would turn down the chance to play for Real Madrid. And I understand completely."

Rodri has been a key fixture of the first team since joining City for £62.6 million in 2019.
He has made 293 appearances across all competitions, bagging 28 goals and 32 assists. His contributions have helped City win four Premier League titles and a Champions League.
However, the midfielder’s form has dropped since the knee injury he suffered in September 2024.
Fitness issues have plagued Rodri this season. He has been limited to only 14 Premier League starts due to a hamstring injury.
Despite his recent struggles, the Spain international remains one of the best defensive midfielders in the world. His intelligence, composure and passing set him apart from other players.
City have offered him a new contract, but it is unclear whether he will accept it or seek a challenge elsewhere.
