PSG 5-2 Chelsea: Kvaratskhelia brace helps Parisians make Champions League history

Paris Saint-Germain claimed a 5-2 victory over Chelsea in the Champions League round of 16 first-leg tie at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday evening.

They went ahead in the 10th minute, with Bradley Barcola latching onto Joao Neves’ header inside the area to open the scoring.

Malo Gusto drew Chelsea level in the 28th minute, finding space behind Nuno Mendes before rifling the ball past Matvey Safonov.

PSG restored their lead as Desire Doue slipped Ousmane Dembele through. The Frenchman fired the ball past Filip Jorgensen.

The second half started with a low attacking tempo from both sides until Chelsea drew level in the 57th minute.

PSG lost the ball carelessly, allowing Pedro Neto to run through. He delivered a low cross for Enzo Fernandez to apply the finish.

Vitinha put the defending champions ahead again in the 74th minute, producing a brilliant chip to lift the ball over Jorgensen.

Joao Pedro thought he had drawn Chelsea level after finishing from close range, but his effort was ruled offside.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia made it 4-2 in the 86th minute, cutting inside before rifling a brilliant strike home.

The Georgian sealed the victory in stoppage time with a first-time finish, helping PSG to become the first French side to score five goals against an English team in the Champions League knockout stage.
