Barcelona are expecting a decision that could bring thousands more fans back to their stadium.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the club believes they will soon receive approval from the Barcelona City Council for the long-awaited ‘1C license’.
The permit will allow the club to reopen the first and second tiers of Spotify Camp Nou’s North Stand ahead of their La Liga clash against Sevilla on March 15.
This would increase the stadium’s current capacity from 45,401 to approximately 62,000 spectators.
Club officials had hoped the permit would arrive on Monday, but internal sources now expect the final confirmation to come later today.
Barcelona has been preparing for the green light so they can move quickly. One of the main tasks will be processing around 14,000 season tickets that could become available in the North Stand.
Once the license is officially approved, Barcelona plans to give members who have not yet chosen seats a short window to do so. Fans will have 24 hours to submit their requests.
Season ticket prices for these new seats are expected to range between €160 and €264.
If the number of applications exceeds the available seats, the club will hold a lottery to decide which members receive the tickets.
Barcelona are optimistic, even though the City Council has not confirmed when the permit will be issued.
Officials have kept details private and have not set a clear deadline for the decision. Even so, there is growing confidence within the club that the process will be resolved soon.
Barcelona are also working on another project inside the stadium. Plans are moving forward to create a dedicated supporters’ section in the South Stand, which will hold 1,247 fans.
During the 3-0 Copa del Rey victory over Atletico Madrid at the Spotify Camp Nou, a temporary corner section was used to house about 750 supporters who helped drive the team forward during the game.
However, these fans have not yet moved into their permanent area in the newly named 1957 Stand.
Before that can happen, the club must prepare secure access routes and complete identification procedures for everyone who will occupy the section.
