Chelsea 2-2 Leeds: Okafor goal ends Liam Rosenior’s perfect Premier League start

Chelsea were held to a 2-2 draw by Leeds United in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.

The result prevented manager Liam Rosenior from extending his winning run to five league games.

Joao Pedro broke the deadlock in the 26th minute, running in behind to dink Cole Palmer’s pass over Karl Darlow.

Pedro is now the fourth Brazilian to score at least 10 goals in two consecutive Premier League seasons.

Palmer nearly got on the scoresheet shortly afterwards, but Darlow was equal to the task. The hosts failed to add to their advantage before the break.

Chelsea were awarded a penalty in the 57th minute after Jaka Bijol brought down Pedro. Palmer stepped up to convert, sending Darlow the wrong way.

Leeds were awarded a penalty eight minutes later, following Moises Caicedo’s foul on Jayden Bogle. Lukas Nmecha sent the ball into the bottom corner.

Substitute Noah Okafor completed the comeback in the 73rd minute, slotting into an empty net after Chelsea failed to clear their lines.

Okafor’s strike was the eighth goal Chelsea have conceded to opposition substitutes – the highest in the division this term.

Chelsea pushed on for a late winner, but Leeds held on to secure a point.
