Leeds United 1-1 Man United: Cunha cancels out Aaronson’s opener as Red Devils miss another chance to move into top four

Leeds United drew 1-1 with Manchester United in the Premier League at Elland Road on Sunday afternoon.

Both sides had periods of possession early in the first half, but failed to create any clear chances.

Leeds eventually created an opening in the 34th minute, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin glancing a header beyond Senne Lammens. He was denied by the post.

United ended the first half on the front foot, creating two good chances.

Lucas Perri tipped Leny Yoro’s flicked header over the crossbar. Moments later, Patrick Dorgu dragged his effort wide after a well-worked team move.

The second half began with both sides showing more attacking intent.

Gabriel Gudmundsson forced Lammens to make a low save, while Manuel Ugarte’s shot went wide at the other end.

The hosts drew first blood as Brenden Aaronson took advantage of Ayden Heaven’s poor defending before smashing the ball past Lammens.

Matheus Cunha quickly levelled the scores, sliding the ball beyond the goalkeeper after receiving a through ball from substitute Joshua Zirkzee.

Noah Okafor almost restored the Whites’ lead with a spectacular overhead kick, but Lammens was equal to the task.

Benjamin Sesko squandered a big chance for the Red Devils, dragging his effort from close range wide following Zirkzee’s cutback.

Man United missed another chance to climb into the top four and remain two points behind Liverpool, who face Fulham later today.
