Ronaldo misses easy scoring chance as Al-Nassr lose 11-game unbeaten run in the Saudi Pro League

Cristiano Ronaldo missed a brilliant scoring opportunity as Al-Nassr slumped to a 3-2 defeat against Al-Ahli in the Saudi Pro League (SPL) on Friday.

Ronaldo was one-on-one with the goalkeeper just after the hour mark, but he failed to control the ball and the chance went begging.

The defeat ended Al-Nassr’s 11-game unbeaten run in the SPL, leaving them at risk of losing top spot.

Al-Nassr currently have a two-point lead, but Al-Hilal can overtake them with a victory over Damac on Sunday.

Al-Ahli dominated proceedings from the start at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, scoring the opener in the seventh minute.

Galeno broke into space and squared the ball to Ivan Toney, who comfortably slotted it home.

The former Brentford star extended their advantage 13 minutes later by confidently finishing past Al-Aqidi.

A howler from goalkeeper Abdulrahman Al-Sanbi allowed the visitors back in the game, as Abdulelah Al-Amri made it 2-1.

The 28-year-old defender headed home the equaliser just before the break to swing the momentum back in their favour.

However, Toney was once again instrumental in putting his side in control, as he brilliantly set up Merih Demiral to score in the 55th minute.

Ronaldo missed a golden opportunity after the hour, as Al-Ahli sealed an excellent 3-2 victory in front of their home crowd.

Al-Nassr will now return to action when they host Al-Qadisiyah at the Al-Awwal Park on Thursday.
