Chelsea release statement as Enzo Maresca leaves club after complete breakdown in relations

Chelsea have announced that manager Enzo Maresca has left the club.

Maresca stunned Chelsea last month when he said he had endured his worst ‘48 hours’ since his appointment after their 2-0 win over Everton.

His comments appeared to be aimed at the Blues’ hierarchy, although he refused to elaborate in subsequent press conferences.

The home supporters booed Maresca after Tuesday’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge.

Liam Rosenior, who is managing Chelsea’s partner club Strasbourg, is a leading contender to replace Maresca

Rosenior has impressed with his work at Strasbourg, guiding his team to a seventh-place finish in his debut campaign.

Maresca joined Chelsea in 2024 after taking Leicester City back into the Premier League at the first time of asking.

He secured Champions League qualification with a fourth-place league finish and led his team to success in the Europa Conference League and the Club World Cup last season.

However, they have won just one of their last seven Premier League games. They currently sit fifth in the league table with 30 points from 19 matches.
