Steven Gerrard makes ‘brutally honest’ claim about replacing current Liverpool manager Arne Slot

Steven Gerrard has made his feelings clear about potentially replacing Arne Slot at Liverpool.

Gerrard refused to rule out a return to the Merseyside giants, expressing his willingness to help his former club in any role at anytime.

However, he also gave his firm backing to Slot, insisting he doesn’t want him to lose his job at Anfield.

On the latest episode of Ally’s Social Club for TNT Sports, Gerrard said: “I’ll be brutally, brutally honest with you – I’d help Liverpool in any department at any minute of every day. I’d help them with anything.

“I don’t want the Liverpool manager to lose his job. I want Arne Slot to fix this, turn it around and make Liverpool great. I was bouncing all over the city [a few] months ago when Liverpool won the league.

“I’m a Liverpool fan. I want the best for Liverpool, but if Liverpool need me in any department at any time, I’ll be there for them.”

There was plenty of speculation regarding Slot’s future at Liverpool after a run of nine defeats in 12 matches.

But he has since managed to turn things around, with the Reds collecting 11 points from their last five Premier League matches to climb to fifth in the standings

Given the revival in their fortunes, Slot’s position at the club looks safe for now.

Gerrard won the 2005 Champions League with Liverpool. He hasn’t been successful as a manager, despite winning the Scottish Premiership title with Rangers in his first role.

He was appointed as Aston Villa’s boss in November 2021, but he was dismissed after less than a year.

He also failed to achieve anything significant in his next job at Al-Ettifaq and left them by mutual consent in January.

Gerrard was heavily linked with a return to Rangers following Russell Martin’s departure in October, but he rejected the opportunity.
