Curtis Jones says Mohamed Salah apologised to Liverpool teammates after explosive interview

Curtis Jones has revealed that Mohamed Salah apologised to his Liverpool teammates for his outburst against the club and manager Arne Slot.

The 33-year-old gave an explosive interview in which he accused the club of throwing him under the bus and also claimed his relationship with Slot had collapsed.

His stunning claims led to his omission from the Reds’ Champions League victory over Inter Milan. He was reintegrated into the squad for Saturday’s Premier League clash against Brighton & Hove Albion.

While Slot has refused to disclose whether he received an apology from Salah, Curtis Jones said that the forward had spoken to his teammates about the furore that followed his bombshell interview.

Jones told Sky Sports: “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody or made you feel any sort of way, I apologise.’

“That’s the man that he is. I can only speak from knowing Mo, and how he is with us and how he acted on that. He was positive as well.

“He was the exact same Mo – he had a big smile on his face, and everybody was exactly the same with him. I guess it’s just part of wanting to be a winner.”

Salah has been an integral part of Liverpool since joining the club from Roma in 2017.

He has helped the Reds win two Premier League titles and a Champions League.

But he has failed to make the same impact this season, scoring just four goals in 14 top-flight games.

Slot rightly dropped him from the team, but he reacted by giving an incendiary interview.

Salah, who has jetted off to join Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), has now apologised for his behaviour.

But speculation over his future at Anfield will continue as Saudi Arabia is prepared to do whatever it can to bring him to the Middle East
