AC Milan have reached an agreement to sign Colombian full-back Juan David Arizala from Deportivo Independiente Medellin for €3 million.
The 20-year-old is expected to complete the move in the winter transfer window after the two clubs finalised terms this week.
The fee includes a sell-on clause and ranks among the highest outgoing transfers in Colombian league history.
Arizala attracted interest from clubs in the United Kingdom and Belgium but chose Milan as his preferred destination.
He has made 26 senior appearances for Independiente Medellin, contributing two goals and one assist in the Colombian top flight.
He is viewed as a versatile option who can operate as a full-back on either side, as a wing-back and occasionally higher up the pitch.
Arizala was part of the Colombia squad that finished third at the Under-20 World Cup earlier this year, starting regularly throughout the tournament.
His performances at the youth international level sparked interest from European clubs and convinced Milan to move quickly to sign him.
The Rossoneri have two remaining non-EU registration spots and were keen to fill one with a player who fits their technical and physical profile.
Milan will determine the best pathway for Arizala once he arrives, with the possibility of a loan being considered.
The club do not plan to guarantee him an immediate role in the senior squad but believe he can develop into a first-team option with time.
Arizala’s ability to play on both flanks is an advantage in a squad that has lacked depth in wide defensive positions.
Milan recently shifted their focus to identifying talent outside Europe as competition from established players increases.
The deal is regarded as a decisive move to secure a player who may have commanded a higher fee had he stayed another season in Colombia.
Milan are expected to announce the transfer formally once the necessary paperwork and regulatory steps are completed.
