Bayern Munich have identified Lyon’s Malick Fofana and Koln’s Said El Mala as potential attacking targets for next summer (h/t German journalist Florian Plettenberg).
The Bavarians appear to be keen on bolstering the left wing position despite splashing the cash on Luis Diaz last summer.
The former Liverpool star has become an instant hit in the Bundesliga, proving he is worth every penny Bayern invested in him.
The Colombian winger has racked up 12 goals and six assists in 19 games this season. Diaz has no reliable back-up, and Bayern have prioritised adding more depth to the left-wing position.
Bayern are among a plethora of clubs monitoring Fofana’s incredible development at Lyon.
The 20-year-old burst onto the scene last season, catching everyone’s attention with his impressive performances in Ligue 1 and the Europa League. He recorded 11 goals and six assists in all competitions.
However, his progress has been hampered by an ankle injury this season.
There was significant interest from European heavyweights for the Belgian prodigy last summer, but he remained with Lyon.
Barcelona, Liverpool and Arsenal have been credited with an interest in Fofana. Les Gones could part ways with him next summer.
The French giants are also in talks to sign Real Madrid youngster Endrick on loan in January to replace Fofana.
Bayern are showing concrete interest in El Mala, who is one of the hottest prospects in Europe this season.
The 19-year-old has taken the Bundesliga by storm with his electrifying performances, bagging five goals and three assists for Koln this season.
The sticking point for Bayern is that El Mala has no release clause in his contract. With a contract running until 2030, Koln will be able to demand a hefty fee for the teenager.
