Manchester City ready to move for £100m midfielder ahead of Manchester United

Manchester United have been heavily linked with Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson

However, the Red Devils are set to face competition from Manchester City, according to the Daily Mail,

City’s director of football Hugo Viana and manager Pep Guardiola are big admirers of the England international, and their scouts have watched recent Forest games.

The Tricky Trees will reportedly not listen to offers in the winter transfer window, but a summer sale is possible, especially if a club matches their £100 million valuation.

United spent most of their transfer budget on bolstering their attack last summer, but their priority now is midfield.

Casemiro will likely leave Old Trafford in 2026, while Manuel Ugarte has failed to live up to expectations after arriving from Paris Saint-Germain.

United have set their sights on Anderson, who has recently emerged as one of English football’s most in-demand stars.

However, they face competition from City, who are attracted by the player’s versatility. Adam Wharton has previously been considered, but they now prefer Anderson.

Newcastle United were forced to sell the 23-year-old to avoid breaching financial rules, but they are keen to re-sign him.

But given the enormous price tag, Anderson is unlikely to return to St James’ Park.
