The Serbian goalkeeper made another crucial stop, denying Boubacar Kamara from giving Villa the lead.
The visitors responded immediately as Martinez turned Alex Scott’s effort behind, keeping the scores level.
Villa drew first blood in the 28th minute through Emi Buendia, who curled a free-kick beyond Petrovic.
The hosts’ last five Premier League goals have now been scored from outside the area – the fourth time a side have managed to do so in the competition.

Bournemouth were awarded a penalty in the 65th minute after Morgan Rogers committed a handball, only to be denied by the impressive Martinez.
Substitute Ross Barkley gave Villa a three-goal cushion with a glancing header from Lucas Digne’s brilliant delivery.
Shortly after, fellow substitute Donyell Malen got on the act, smashing a right-footed shot into the net from a corner.
Bournemouth have now lost two consecutive Premier League games for the first time since May.
