Aston Villa vs Bournemouth: Match preview, head-to-head, team news, key players

Aston Villa host Bournemouth in the Premier League on Sunday in what promises to be a fascinating clash.

Villa lost 2-0 at Liverpool last weekend, ending their five-game unbeaten run in the league. Bournemouth were defeated 3-1 at Manchester City.

Match preview

Villa head into this fixture on the back of a 2-0 triumph over Israeli side Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Europa League on Thursday.

They have won their last three league home games, including a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Manchester City. However, they have scored just six goals in five home games.

Bournemouth were not in action during the week, and their freshness could be an advantage.

Andoni Iraola’s side have won just once away this term, but have been entertaining to watch on their travels, scoring nine goals and conceding 12.

This game serves as a test of character for both sides, with each aiming to bounce back from a defeat in their last league outing.

Head-to-head

Villa have won seven, drawn three and lost five of their previous meetings with Bournemouth in all competitions.

Team news

Emi Buendia could return for the hosts, but Tyrone Mings and Andres Garcia remain sidelined.

Antoine Semenyo, Tyler Adams, and Alex Jimenez have been passed fit for Bournemouth after injury concerns.

Key players

Aston Villa

Morgan Rogers: Has recorded two goal involvements in three appearances against Bournemouth.

Boubacar Kamara: Played as a substitute against Maccabi but should return to the starting line-up for this encounter.

Bournemouth

Antoine Semenyo: No goal involvements in the last three games, but still the team’s best forward.

Eli Kroupi: He has three goals in the last three games, making him the Cherries’ in-form forward.
