Bayern Munich have confirmed that manager Vincent Kompany has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2029.
The Belgian was appointed ahead of the 2024-25 season after Bayern parted ways with Thomas Tuchel, and he has since overseen an impressive transformation at the Allianz Arena.
Kompany guided Bayern back to the Bundesliga title after the club’s 12-year streak was ended the previous year.
They lost just twice all season and reached the Champions League quarter-finals, with Harry Kane finishing as the league’s top scorer and lifting the first trophy of his career.
Bayern have carried that momentum into the new season, winning all seven of their Bundesliga matches to sit five points clear of RB Leipzig at the top of the table.
Kompany’s early success and strong rapport with players and supporters have now been rewarded with a two-year extension to his existing deal.
“I am grateful and honoured for the trust and working environment Bayern have given me from day one,” Kompany said.
“It feels like I’ve been here much longer and that I understand the club well. We’ve started a wonderful journey together, and I look forward to achieving even more success.”
Kompany’s career in management began at boyhood club Anderlecht, where he served as player-manager before taking charge full-time.
He moved to Burnley in 2022 and delivered instant success by winning the Championship title and securing promotion to the Premier League.
Although Burnley’s stay in the top flight was short-lived, Bayern saw enough in Kompany’s tactical intelligence and composure to hand him one of Europe’s biggest jobs.
Bayern have rediscovered their dominance and flair under Kompany, with several players improving significantly.
Kane has thrived as the focal point, while Michael Olise and Jamal Musiala have flourished under the new structure.
Bayern return to Champions League action on Wednesday when they face Belgian champions Club Brugge.
