Morocco and Argentina have reached the final of the FIFA U20 World Cup after beating France and Colombia, respectively.
Here is a recap of what happened in the semi-finals.
Morocco continue giant-killing run against France
Morocco drew 1–1 with France after extra time but won 5–4 on penalties to reach the U20 World Cup final for the first time in their history.
An own goal from goalkeeper Lisandru Olmeta gave Morocco the lead in the 32nd minute before Lucas Michal drew France level just before the hour mark.
Othmane Maamma missed a golden chance to score a late winner for Morocco.
France’s Rabby Nzingoula was sent off during extra time, but Morocco could not capitalise on their numerical advantage to secure the victory before the penalty shoot-out.
With the scores tied 4-4, Naim Byar gave Morocco the lead before goalkeeper Abdelhakim Mesbahi saved Djylian N’Guessan’s penalty to send them to the final.
Clinical Argentina end Colombia’s fairytale
Argentina beat Colombia 1-0 to continue their quest for a record-extending seventh U20 World Cup title.
Joel Canchimbo should have given Colombia the lead in the ninth minute, but goalkeeper Santino Barbi produced an incredible save to deny him.
Colombia’s Juan Arizala also had an effort flash just wide of the left post in the 43rd minute.
Mateo Silvetti came the closest to giving Argentina the lead after the break before Emilio Aristizabal squandered another big chance for Colombia.
Cesar Torres’ side were made to rue their missed chances as Silvetti scored the decisive goal for Argentina in the 72nd minute.
Colombia’s Jhon Renteria was sent off seven minutes later, and Argentina comfortably navigated the rest of the game.
Argentina will now play in the U20 World Cup final for the first time since 2007, when they lifted the title.
